Varanasi: Social media has become a new destination for new relationships to flourish. With this, a series of new incidents have also started. One such incident has come out from Varanasi. A student from Varanasi befriended a young man from Meerut. She got kidnapped by the young man on the pretext of meeting after friendship. Later he raped her for 27 days. The police rescued the girl and arrested the accused.

The accused has been identified as Nitin Kumar Gupta, a resident of Shiv Shakti Vihar (Garh Road) near Medical College, Meerut. On Thursday, the accused was produced in court, from where he was sent to jail. A 16-year-old girl from Varanasi's Baragaon area went missing on 17 August. After much investigation, the family lodged a case of kidnapping at the Baragaon police station.

According to the Station Head, Baragaon, Sanjay Kumar Singh, it was revealed in the investigation that the accused Nitin and the student became friends through Facebook. After this Nitin came to Babatpur and called the student to him. Coming under Nitin's seduction, the girl went to him, then he took her to Meerut and then to Haryana. During this time, Nitin raped the student. He also threatned her to make video viral if she complaints about this to the police. However, the police recovered the girl and arrested the accused.
