New Delhi: A sensational case of rape of an 87-year-old woman has come to light in the national capital. In this case, the police have arrested the 30-year-old sweeper. According to the police, the incident took place in Delhi's Tilak Nagar area. The accused Ankit works as a sweeper in this area. He sweeps many houses here. The event is on February 13.
Police said a complaint was given to the police over the phone from a house in Tilak Nagar that a man had entered the house in the name of repairing the gas stove and fled with the mobile phone of the elderly woman. The police arrived at the scene. It was found that the 87-year-old woman was alone in the house at the time of the incident and her 65-year-old daughter had gone for a walk in the park near the house after eating food. The elderly woman has been bedridden for the past 7 months. Her daughter looks after her. The next day of the incident, on February 14, a complaint was filed again, alleging sexual assault. The police then added the case to the new sections.
On hearing about the rape of the 87-year-old woman, everyone was shocked. Immediately, senior officials of Delhi Police and the Delhi Commission for women staff also reached the spot. A team of doctors was also called. The Delhi Police said they initially had no evidence, the case was completely blind. The Delhi Police deployed several teams to search for the accused. The police scanned several CCTV footage in the vicinity. The accused appeared in it. After identifying the accused, the Delhi Police team arrested sweeper Ankit within 16 hours.
