NEW DELHI: A speeding car hit three girls heading towards their school on Wednesday morning, and the impact of the incident caused them to collide with the wheels of a truck carrying LPG cylinders, killing one of them,  official said.

Manisha Kumari (18), the deceased, was recognised, and the other two injured girls, Kalpana and Sanjana, were taken to Balaji Hospital for treatment. At 8.08 a.m., a PCR call was received at Paschim Vihar West police station alleging a traffic accident, said the Deputy Commissioner of Police Sameer Sharma, and police personnel raced to the scene. The cops shifted one girl's body to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital after she died on the spot.

The offending car has been placed into police possession, and the driver is on the run, the senior official. "Two dedicated teams have been formed to track for both the alleged driver and the vehicle's owner," he said.

Meanwhile, the collision caused a major traffic jam on the road because the deceased girl's relatives sat in the middle of the road for quite some time. As per latest reports, the traffic jam has been removed.
