Agartala: Jamal Hussain, a suspect arrested on charges of dacoity and drug smuggling in Tripura's Sepahijala district, died at Sonamura police station on Wednesday. On which the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has demanded a judicial inquiry. TMC leader Subal Bhowmik said the matter pertained to custodial death and a judicial inquiry should be conducted so that all details about the incident could come out.

The TMC leader said that those responsible for the death in police custody should be booked as per law at the earliest. The family of the deceased man alleged that the police killed him. Jamal's sister Ajufa Khatoon alleged that the police had killed her. He said that his brother did not have any disease. The police, who according to him killed Jamal, is trying to suppress the case. He said that a high level inquiry should be conducted to unearth all the hidden facts related to the incident.

A senior official, B B Das, said Jamal developed severe chest pain around 2 pm, following which he was taken to a local hospital. From where he was discharged after treatment. After that he was brought to the police station. Where in the morning he was found dead in his cell.
