Emmy Awards 2021: Colman wins her first lead actress award for the Drama Series 'The Crown'

For playing the outstanding role of Queen Elizabeth II in Netflix's historical drama series 'The Crown,' English actress Olivia Colman has recently won an Emmy for 'Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series.'

Colman has already won a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award for her depiction as Queen Elizabeth II. 'The Crown' won its fourth Emmy of the night with this win. The fourth season of 'The Crown' covered the years 1979 through the early 1990s, including Margaret Thatcher's presidency and Lady Diana Spencer's marriage to Prince Charles.

At the ongoing Emmys, Netflix's blockbuster program 'The Crown' continued its winning streak by earning another award, this time for 'Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series', which was won by Gillian Anderson. Jessica Hobbs, a New Zealand-born award-winning director, has previously won an Emmy for 'Outstanding Directing For A Drama Series.' Season 4 of Netflix's popular program 'The Crown' was directed by Hobbs.

For Netflix's 'The Crown,' Peter Morgan received an Emmy for 'Outstanding Writing For A Drama Series.' The 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards will take place at L.A. Live's Event Deck in Downtown Los Angeles, California. The nominations were announced on July 13 this year by Ron and Jasmine Cephas Jones during a virtual event. The ceremony is being hosted by Cedric the Entertainer.
