Sujay (23), who was running a private company, near Halasuru had not paid salary to the employees for three months. He was taken by his seven employees to a farmhouse in Maddur where he was locked up and tortured before he was released on the assurance that he would arrange the money. They allegedly tortured Sujay and demanded their salaries. Sujay was only let off after he promised to pay their salaries.

Sujay then filed a complaint at the Halasuru police station. Four of the seven accused — Sanjay, Rakesh, Niranjan, and Darshan — were tracked down and arrested on the charges of abduction, assault, and criminal intimidation. The police are on the lookout for remaining accused. The police are further investigating the case and three others are yet to be arrested.

Sujay started the firm in January and wound it up in March because of financial loss. He later assured the employees that salaries would be paid, but he failed to do so. The frustrated employees then decided to abduct him to recover their dues, a senior police officer said. The four accused have been remanded in judicial custody while efforts are on to track the others, the officer said.
