Srinagar: The situation has worsened in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir since heavy rains. Due to sudden floods after the rains, the soil has collapsed at many places. Due to this, schools and educational institutions have been closed. In Jammu, waterlogging has occurred in several areas. Flood water has also entered many school premises. Not only this, but the water level of the Chenab river has also crossed the danger mark. The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has also been closed due to mudslides, leaving hundreds of vehicles stranded.

According to media reports, due to heavy rains in the hilly areas of Reasi, all people have been instructed to stay indoors and beware of slides and slips on the road. At the same time, there has been a traffic jam on the Srinagar-Leh highway due to a mudslide in the Ganderbal district. After the heavy rains, many vehicles have been stuck on waterlogged roads, the removal of which is going on. According to information, the water level of the Chenab river has reached the danger mark due to rain since night in the hilly areas of the Jammu division.

In view of the rising water level of Chenab, an alert has been issued and all people have been advised to stay away from the river. Teams of the Jammu Police SDRF administration are keeping a close watch on the movement of the river. Today, at Akhnoor near Chenab, the river has taken a ferocious form. The SDRF team has also been deployed here. People have been appealed not to go near the river.
