Ranchi: A gang-rape survivor from Latehar district who was in coma for four months succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday evening. The woman had suffered grievous injuries in her head as the accused had tried to crush her face after raping her
According to a report in the Hindustan Times, at the time of her death, she was only weighed a mere 18 kgs. The woman had lost all body fat, and the doctors were providing her intravenous food drips. Since she was bedridden for four months, she had also developed several bedsores. The woman had suffered grievous injuries in her head as the accused had tried to crush her face after raping her.
Reportedly, initially, she was admitted to Latehar Sadar hospital in an unconscious state and then the survivor was then referred to RIMS.
The woman was then treated for two months in the neurology ward and she was sent back to Latehar Sadar hospital. Meanwhile, on May 8, she developed medical complications and was brought back to RIMS.
The woman is survived by her husband, two children and her elder brother. The final rites were conducted by her family and villagers on Friday.
