Dehradun: Heavy landslides between Helgu Gad and Sunagar on the Gangotri National Highway on Thursday blocked the highway throughout the day. The highway was blocked on Wednesday evening, due to which 3,000 pilgrims were stranded between Sunagar and Gangotri Dham since Wednesday. But now the Gangotri National Highway, which has been blocked for 40 hours, has been facilitated by the BRO after a lot of hard work. After that, BRO and the administration have taken a sigh of relief.

Meanwhile, Uttarkashi Collector Abhishek Ruhela and the Superintendent of Police were also present on the spot due to the action being taken to streamline the highway. After about 40 hours, the passengers got great relief. The traffic jam up to Sunagar and Gangnani has been completely removed. This is a piece of big relief news after 40 hours for BRO and administration. In view of the intermittent falling stones from the hill, the Collector has instructed the BRO, and police officers to carefully remove the vehicles.

Due to this, the pilgrims had to deal with the problem of milk etc. for the children, including food and stay. A pilgrim died of cardiac arrest at Gangotri Dham on Thursday morning, whose body could not be taken to the Uttarkashi district hospital. At the same time, when the police vehicle reached Sunagar late on Thursday night, the pilgrims created a lot of ruckus and also surrounded the police vehicle. Police asked the pilgrims to return to Harshil Dharali and Gangotri. But the pilgrims said that there is not enough diesel petrol in their vehicles to go back to Gangotri and Harshil again.
