Ahmedabad: Chinese Manjha is being sold and used on a large scale in Gujarat. Two people have lost their lives in Vadodara and Surat due to Chinese Manjha getting stuck in their throats, but even after this Chinese Manjha is being sold in large numbers in the cities. To curb this, the Vadodara city police arrested 13 people on Thursday in eight different FIRs registered in different police stations of the city after a surprise inspection. 

Vadodara police have told that two people have died due to the Chinese Manjha. To curb its sale, a special campaign has been launched following the instructions of the Police Commissioner. As part of the drive, surprise checks were conducted at shops, and raids were conducted at suspected locations. A total of 62 places were inspected and 8 cases were registered. The city police arrested 13 people and seized a Chinese Manjha string worth Rs 1 lakh.

Vadodara ACP AM Sayyed has said that a case will be registered against the traders of Chinese Manjha as well as the people who use them. This action of the police has been taken after the CCTV video of a person dying after allegedly getting entangled with the Manjha of a Chinese kite went viral. The video is from the Sama area. Where the throat of the person riding the bike was cut by the thread of the kite. He died on the way to the hospital. After this, the police registered a case of death and started an investigation to find the person who used this Chinese Manjha.
