Guru Purnima festival is considered very special for Hindus, Jains and Buddhists. This festival is especially celebrated among Hindus to honor their teachers. The word Guru originated from Sanatan Dharma. Who is called a teacher in today's era. On this day being the birthday of Ved Vyas, the author of Mahabharata, Guru Purnima is also called Vyas Purnima. The followers of Buddhism observe Guru Purnima festival in honor of the first sermon given by Gautama Buddha at Sarnath. According to Sadguru: Guru Purnima is the day when Adiyogi i.e. Lord Shiva established himself as Adi Guru by giving knowledge of yoga to the Saptarishis.
