Dehradun: In Haridwar, Uttarakhand, the matter of offering Namaz collectively in the market has come to light. 8 people have been arrested in this case. This case of offering Namaz at a public place has come to the fore at a time when the Kanwar Yatra is going on in the month of Sawan. According to reports, a weekly market is held in Shivalik Nagar of the Ranipur area of ​​Haridwar. Here on Thursday (July 21, 2022) prayers were offered collectively during the night. All the accused arrested are shopkeepers.

The arrested accused have been identified as Mohammad Nizam, Naseem, Mursaleen, Ashraf, Ashraf Asgar, Mustafa, Sajad Ahmed and Ikram. The police have challaned all of them under sections of breach of peace. The video of the mass prayer is also going viral on social media. The locals have expressed their displeasure over the incident. All the arrested accused are residents of Jwalapur in Haridwar. While 47-year-old Ikram is said to be a resident of the Bahadrabad Kotwali area of Haridwar. Confirming the incident, the police said that due to prayers at a public place, the way of movement of the general public was blocked.

According to another report, all the accused were loading the goods on the back and selling them in the market. After a while, they prayed together. According to Inspector Kotwali Ranipur Amar Chand Sharma, all the accused have offered prayers at a public place without permission, due to which they were challaned under Section 151 CRPC and produced before the court.
