Chandigarh: A case of molestation of a 9-year-old girl by a Mawlawi at a mosque in Pataudi in Gurugram, Haryana has come to light. Pataudi police have registered a case under the POCSO Act on the complaint of the girl's mother and arrested the accused Mawlawi. The incident came to light when the girl told her mother that she had been bad touched by the Mawlawi in the mosque. The people of the locality then immediately gathered and thrashed the accused Mawlawi. The video of the assault is going viral on social media.

The video was made by a man from the locality who says the girl was molested in the mosque. The video was posted by Rajiv Pratap Dubey on Twitter. He writes, "The molestation of a 9-year-old girl inside a mosque in Gurugram was carried out by the Jamaati Imam who had come to collect donations. The girl who had gone to feed the Mawlawi was abused. The Mawlawi, who was accused of this, was thrashed by the people. The incident took place around 12 noon on Monday in Pataudi area.''

 

According to reports, the victim's mother had filed a complaint against the Mawlawi on Monday evening. The woman said her daughter had gone to the mosque to give food.  The Mawlawi grabbed my daughter's hand and pulled her inside the mosque. The woman is originally from Palwal. She lives in the Pataudi police station area and lives by working at people's homes. The woman alleged that the Mawlawi also kissed her baby girl. Terrified, the girl ran to her family and narrated the whole ordeal to them. Police have registered a case under Section 8 of the POCSO Act (Sexual Assault) against Mawlawi by recording the statement of the girl.
