LOS ANGELES: Hollywood icon Jane Fonda declared that her cancer is in remission.

According to "Variety," Fonda, who turns 85 on December 21, wrote, "BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER!!!" "My oncologist informed me last week that my cancer is in remission and I can stop receiving chemo. I feel very fortunate and blessed right now. I appreciate each and every one of you who prayed for me and thought of me. The two-time Oscar winner earlier announced her non-lymphoma Hodgkin's diagnosis and the beginning of her six-month chemotherapy journey on Instagram on September 2.

She reassured the audience that there is an 80% chance of survival and that the cancer is "extremely treatable."
In a recent essay, Fonda referred to her final chemotherapy treatment as one of the most difficult, noting how worn out she was for the two weeks that followed.

However, on December 2, Fonda was still able to show up in Washington, D.C. at the Fire Drill Fridays event, which was a project that Fonda and Greenpeace USA came up with in 2019. Through the non-profit, Fonda has continued to organise weekly rallies while undergoing medical treatment, both digitally and now physically.

"The symptoms subsided just before I travelled to Washington, D.C., for the first real-time Fire Drill Fridays rally. It was a busy week, so thank God for that," Fonda said in her tweet.

"Besides the rally, I engaged in some lobbying and delivered two speeches at the Democracy Alliance in an effort to defeat Senator Joe Manchin's side deal, which environmentalists refer to as the Dirty Deal.

"This deal, called 'permitting reform,' seeks to expedite fossil fuel projects, does significant harm to fundamental environmental protections, and severely restricts public participation, essentially putting marginalised communities who bear a disproportionate burden of fossil fuel pollution under the bus."
