Bangalore: Former Karnataka Chief Minister and senior BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa on Monday (January 30) announced his separation from electoral politics. During the press conference, Yeddyurappa said that he will not contest the upcoming assembly elections nor does he intend to contest any elections in the future. Yeddyurappa further said, "I am just 80 years old. I can't contest elections. However, he later clarified that he would continue in active politics.''

Let us tell you that Karnataka is likely to hold assembly elections by May. As the elections are nearing, Yeddyurappa's importance in the party is increasing. He is also a member of the Central Parliamentary Committee of the party. The support of the Lingayat community is with Yediyurappa. He said that my target is to bring the Modi government back to power in 2024. Yeddyurappa is believed to be trying to secure better conditions for his son BY Vijayendra in the party.

He had earlier announced that Vijayendra would contest from Shikaripura assembly constituency, which he represents. He later said the party will take a final decision on it. Party insiders say that there are many people within the party, who do not respect Yediyurappa. However, his announcement has definitely caused a stir in the political corridors.
