The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) notified the High Court on Wednesday that a charge sheet had been submitted in the issue of suspected irregularities and preferential treatment for V K Sasikala in Bengaluru's central prison.
In the multi-crore disproportionate assets case, Sasikala, a close ally of former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa, was convicted and served four years in the Parappana Agrahara central prison.
During the previous hearing, a division bench led by Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi ordered the government to decide on the ACB's sanction request by July 15, 2021.
The prosecution sanction was given against the then-central prison superintendents Krishna Kumar and Dr. R Anitha, who have been shown as accused no. 1 and 2 in the case, according to the government lawyer. Sasikala is accused no. 5 in the case, while her co-detainee Ilavarasi is accused no. 6.
The bench noted that the petition was already dismissed on June 11, 2021, and that no more orders are required in the case.
