Jaipur: The working style of the police in Rajasthan's Nagaur district has once again put a question mark on the safety of women. A SHO and two constables have been suspended for gross negligence in the FIR lodged by a woman here against the policeman. The SHO is also accused of being drunk on duty. The action has been taken on May 1, 2022 (Sunday). According to media reports, Nagaur Superintendent of Police Rammurti Joshi confirmed the action.  

"On April 28, 2022, a married woman of Khunkhuna police station area had lodged a complaint of rape by a married woman of Khunkhuna police station area after appearing at the Ajmer Range police office. A case was also registered on this complaint at Khunkhuna police station on April 30, 2022. During this time, it was found that the written statement given at the Ajmer office was not mentioned in the FIR lodged at Khunkhuna police station. Considering it to be a serious negligence, SHO Dharampal Meena along with HM Crime Banshi Lal of the same police station, Head Constable Om Prakash and computer operator Suresh have been suspended. '

According to the report, the complaint was lodged by the woman against Sub-Inspector Shambhudayal Meena, a former SHO of Khunkhuna police station, in August 2021 itself. In the complaint, the victim said, "In 2018, when I came to the police station to lodge a complaint, the then SHO Shambhudayal Meena had taken my number. Later, sub-inspector Shambhu Dayal called me continuously and one day called me to a hotel in Didwana and raped me. Then even after I refused, SHO Meena raped me 15-20 times at different times. An agreement was reached between the woman and sub-inspector Shambhudayal Meena, who was later accused in the case. After the agreement was broken, the woman had approached the police to complain back.

Following this complaint, the accused policeman was transferred to Kota range. Deputy SP Gogaram said that daroga Shambhu had later entered into an agreement with the woman. After a few days of recusaling from the resignation, the woman again approached the police station to register a case against Shambhudayal. The officials had received complaints of the SHO Khunkhuna being often drunk. Based on this complaint, Additional SP Didwana Viman Singh Nehra had directed Didwana DSP Gogaram to conduct an inquiry. Late at night on Saturday (April 30, 2022), SHO Dharampal Meena was posted at the nakabandi. During this time, when DSP Gogaram reached there to check, the SHO found him drunk. Dharampal Meena underwent a medical test, which confirmed that he was drunk.
