NEW DELHI: In a high-profile INX media case, Indrani Mukherjee has sought to be an official witness, which has been accepted by the court. Indrani Mukherjee herself had approached the court seeking to be an official witness in the case. Indrani Mukherjee is a former director of INX Media. Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram is accused in the case.

Earlier, the CBI had supported Indrani Mukherjee's plea to become an official witness in the corruption case. The CBI contends that it will strengthen the evidence in the case. The IAX Media case pertains to getting permission from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board for money received by INX Media in 2007. In the Rs 305-crore high-profile scam, former Union Finance Minister and Congress leader P. Singh said, the government is committed to the government. Chidambaram is also named.

The CBI and ED are investigating how Karti Chidambaram, son of P Chidambaram, was granted permission from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board in 2007 for INX Media, while the then Finance Minister was his father P. Chidambaram. The CBI and ED probes revealed that INX Media Director Peter Mukherjee and Indrani Mukherjee, P.K. he met Chidambaram. so that there is no delay in getting permission from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board.
