Jamshedpur: A 22-year-old woman was allegedly hacked to death by her mother-in-law in Saraikela-Kharsawan district of Jharkhand. Police have informed about the incident on Monday. A police official informed the media about the matter and said that the victim Bhavani Lyek had a quarrel with her mother-in-law Geeta Lyek on Sunday over a small domestic issue.

According to police, the story took a serious turn and his mother-in-law picked up the axe and killed Bhavani. He said Bhavani was taken to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead. Divisional Police Officer (Chandil) Sanjay Singh informed that Geeta Lyek of Jhawari village has been arrested and the axe used in the crime has been recovered.

Police said the victim's husband Deenbandhu Lyek had gone to work at the time of the incident. Police have seized the body of the deceased and rushed him for postmortem and put the accused in jail.  Police are currently investigating further.
