LOS ANGELES: Hollywood icon Johnny Depp returned to his Captain Jack Sparrow persona while sending a heartfelt message of encouragement to a dying fan.

According to mirror.co.uk, the 59-year-old dressed up as the character to show a terminally ill 11-year-old youngster support as he fights a heart disease.

Kori Parkin-Stovell, a fan of "Pirates of the Caribbean," underwent two unsuccessful heart transplants before deciding against a third. His family does not know how long he has to live, and he is currently receiving palliative care.

"I wish you the best of luck, I'm your number one fan Captain Kori, all my respect and love," Depp unexpectedly called the YouTuber and left him a video message. Johnny was eager to assist Kori in his quest to increase the number of subscribers to his YouTube channel.

He added in a video posted on Kori's YouTube: "I believe Captain Kori is a YouTube channel king, or soon will be. What I'm trying to express is that I will be happy to follow your YouTube channel and that I will encourage all of my friends to do the same." I will be there watching every moment and watching moments with you, he continued. Depp pretended to be on a pirate ship while speaking to the child through video call.

For the occasion, Kori dressed up and put on his very own pirate hat, which was well received by Captain Jack Sparrow. Along with "knighting" Kori, Johnny also used Captain Jack's sword.

On his YouTube account, Kori only posted the first half of the conversation; in order to reveal the rest, he needs to accumulate 200,000 subscribers. He currently has a staggering 179,000 subscribers.

Kori underwent his first heart transplant in March 2018 despite having Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and the organ being rejected. He had a second transplant in January of last year, but his body rejected the heart following a difficult procedure.
