Kate Winslet, who received the 73rd Emmy Award for lead actress in a limited series for her part in 'Mare of Easttown,' feels that women are now subjected to less criticism for their bodies.

Because she was body-shamed so much early in her career, she believes the acclaim for her part as a junk food-loving investigator in 'Mare of Easttown' meant a "great amount." Winslet thinks that the example Hollywood is beginning to set will have a broader social influence. Speaking to reporters in the virtual press room backstage at the ceremony, she said: "It means a huge amount, because it makes me feel that our industry is changing. I'm honestly starting to feel that, that the shifts are happening.

"And I think we're finger pointing a lot less at women in terms of how they look, their shape. We stopped scrutinising them. In turn, what happens then, is that younger generations of women, who are not in our industry, start to feel OK within themselves too.

"And that's the most essential thing of all. Because it's up to us to be completely honest, to represent ourselves with integrity and honesty, to celebrate each other rather than judge one another" So, I'm hoping that by playing Mare, we're altering the dynamics of how leading females are portrayed on screen, and that makes me happy."

According to media, the actress also revealed that "there have been discussions" regarding a second season of the miniseries, but that nothing is set in stone yet. She stated, " "Conversations are taking place, but I don't think we'll be able to react fully until we have scripts in hand, and we know what the whole plot of Season 2 will be and where Mare will go.

"We're not going to match what we already did, nor should we try, but we should do at least provide something that's as captivating and entertaining as Season 1."
