Mumbai: Thane Crime Branch of Maharashtra Police has busted a vicious gang of fake currency printing. Police have seized a huge amount of fake notes of Rs 2000 from the possession of the accused. According to the information given by the police, fake notes of Rs 2000 worth Rs 8 crore have been recovered.
According to the report, preparations were underway to launch these fake notes in the market, but before that, the police got a big success. The police have arrested two accused in the case. The thane police identified the arrested accused as 52-year-old Ram Sharma and 55-year-old Rajendra Raut. Police have informed that the accused are residents of Palghar and were working to transport fake notes to the market.
Police have recovered 400 bundles of Rs 2,000 notes from the gang that printed fake notes. The police investigation is currently underway. Police are trying to find out how far the network of fake note printers is spread. According to the police, the fraudsters were trying to take advantage of the shortage of Rs 2,000 notes in the market.
