Mumbai: A case has come to light in the Pune city of Maharashtra that has torn humanity apart. A 38-year-old man has been arrested here for allegedly raping a buffalo calf. The incident took place in the Deccan area of the city on Friday, the Pune Police said on Saturday( October 29). Locals saw the man raping the calf and thrashed him, leaving him unconscious. The accused, a resident of Nepal, has been taken to Sassoon General Hospital for treatment, police said.

A senior inspector of the Deccan police station has said that on the basis of the evidence presented by the locals, a case has been registered against the man under Section 377 of the IPC and other provisions and the Prevention of Animal Atrocities Act. According to the information received from the police, the accused, aged 38 years, is originally from Nepal. He used to stay in Pune for work. The entire incident took place on a road near the Mutha river. where the accused was sodomising a buffalo calf. Meanwhile, some locals spotted him and thrashed the accused badly, leaving the man unconscious.

The police reached the spot as soon as the matter was reported. By the time the police arrived, the man was in a breathless condition and was seriously injured. The police immediately admitted him to Sassoon Hospital in Pune. The accused is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. The police will question him further after the person concerned recovers. The police will try to find out what was going on in his mind that he was doing such an act.
