Mahindra Kabira Festival to be celebrated from Nov 18-20

NEW DELHI:  For its sixth year, the Mahindra Kabira Festival, which will take place on Varanasi's ghats from November 18 to 20, promises a diverse lineup of musicians and entertainers.

Ashish Kumar Jaiswal, a vocalist from the Benares Gharana and an expert in Dhrupad, will perform at the Festival this year, along with Pandit Vikash Maharaj, a master of the sarod, and his sons Prabhash and Abhishek Maharaj. Rama Sundar Ranganathan will also perform. The festival will provide specially curated "Heritage Walks" through the Panchganga Ghat, visiting the lanes, sights, and sounds of Varanasi, tracing the rich history of this city of temples.

Performers presenting the afternoon sessions include award-winning Carnatic vocalist Sushma Soma, scholar Umesh Kabir, writer Purushottam Agrawal, singer-songwriter Vipin Heero, Dadi D. Pudumjee from The Ishara Puppet Theatre Trust, and Fouzia Dastango.

Anubhav Nath and Arpana Caur will participate in an Ojas Art art dialogue as part of the event.
