Bengal government's unique lockdown, CM Mamta's instructions in contrast to Center

Kolkata: To prevent coronavirus infection, the West Bengal government has extended the lockdown till May 31. However, the Mamata Banerjee government has decided not to impose curfew at night contrary to the instructions of the central government. State CM Mamta Banerjee issued guidelines for Lockdown 4 in Bengal, saying curfew would not be officially imposed after 7 pm. However, he appealed to the people not to drop out unnecessarily.

The lockdown implemented to prevent the spread of Coronavirus infection in the country has been extended till 31 May. In the guidelines issued by Lockdown 4.0 by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, further relaxation has been given till May 31 to increase economic activity, except for the mall, barber shops, salons and spas and other shops at different times in the markets. Opening has been allowed.

E-commerce companies have also been allowed to supply all goods to homes, including those items which do not fall in the category of essential commodities. However, the Ministry of Home Affairs said that the curfew would continue into the night, which meant that unnecessary trips would be restricted from 7 pm to 7 am and officials would ensure their compliance.
