Yes, according to reports, the woman was beaten up at a temple in Hajipur, where she was accused of theft. A large number of people gathered during the period and after that, the mob also stripped off the woman's clothes and threatened to rape her. Several accused were also caught on camera during the period and a woman's gold chain was allegedly stolen at the Old Iaiya temple at Haruli in Sadar police station area of Hajipur.
The case was accused of theft and people grabbed a woman and beat her. There are reports that people forcibly called the woman and asked her to call her husband and after her husband arrived, the mob started beating the husband and wife ruthlessly.

Shortly after the incident, the police went and the woman and her husband were rushed to the hospital. The mob did not find the chain allegedly stolen from the woman but was beaten to death. The husband told the police that his wife had gone to the temple to see the pooja but had no fear of it.
