Odisha Government to sponsor Indian Rugby for 3 years

The Odisha Government has penned a three-year agreement with the Indian Rugby Football Union (IRFU) to sponsor the Indian National Rugby teams till 2023. The agreement enables Odisha government to ease the high-performance training and conditioning of the players. The Men and Women Sponsorship  is extended to training, conditioning, and incentive's to the Indian national rugby teams.

The Odisha sports minister considers this agreement as a significant partnership. He said this partnership will support and strengthen the high performance of the Indian Rugby Teams and also develops the sports further in Odisha and India. With the rise in rugby teams popularity and quality, many young players are participating, the continual effort by Rugby is commendable. Odisha Government is constantly involved in activities to support sports. It sponsored the Indian Hockey Team in 2018, Odisha FC in 2019.

The agreement was signed between the representatives, Indian Rugby Football Union’s president Maneck Unwala and Director Sports, Odisha, R Vineel Krishna in the presence of Hon’ble Minister of Sports and Youth Services, Odisha, Shri Tusharkanti Behera, Secretary Sports, Shri Vishal K Dev, Mr Naseer Hussain, actor, director and the former Rugby International player, Shri Rahul Bose, Shri U K Mohanty, IRFU Board Member and Head, Odisha Rugby and other senior officials at the Kalinga Stadium.
