Bhubaneswar: With the improved scenario at Covid-19, the Odisha government has allowed cultural events such as open-air plays, drama, symphony, and songs to begin on Saturday.
Cultural gatherings, programmes including melodies, orchestra, jatra, opera, dances-classical, folk, and other permitted dance forms, cultural competitions, open-air theatres, drama, street plays, and other such performances have been allowed to open with due compliance to Covid protocols, according to Special Relief Commissioner P.K. Jena's order. He stated that auditoriums, assembly halls, and other comparable facilities are permitted to open.
According to the order, local authorities (District Magistrate/SP/ Municipal Commissioner or any other officer authorised) will grant permission for open-air theatres and operas, subject to adherence to Covid-19 safety protocols such as mandatory face masks, physical distancing, and thermal scanning, among others.
Considering the size of the open ground, a maximum of 2,000 people will be allowed, with the seating arrangement being constructed in accordance with the prescribed physical distancing limit. The number of spectators in indoor halls will not exceed 50% of the hall's seating capacity.
