Odisha to Host Ultimate Kho Kho Season 2 from December 24

Odisha is set to host the highly anticipated Ultimate Kho Kho Season 2 starting from December 24. The thrilling event, marking the grand second edition, will commence on December 24, 2023, and conclude with the final match on January 13, 2024, at Cuttack's Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Odisha.

With an impressive viewership of 164 million households in its debut season, Ultimate Kho Kho (UKK) is now eagerly preparing for its second edition. The event is a testament to the vision of Hon’ble Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who champions 'sports for youth, youth for the future'. The Odisha government, following this vision, has not only hosted major global sports events but has also developed top-notch multi-sport infrastructure, creating exceptional sporting experiences for enthusiasts in the state.

Tusharkanti Behera, Hon’ble Minister of State, Electronics & IT, Sports & Youth Services, Government of Odisha, expressed excitement about hosting the 2nd edition, highlighting Kho-Kho's popularity in Odisha. The event presents a fantastic opportunity for the state's people to witness the spectacle live, drawing inspiration and possibly engaging more actively in the sport.

Amit Burman, in partnership with the Kho Kho Federation of India, is dedicated to reinventing and promoting this indigenous sport through UKK in a more dynamic and engaging manner. The support from the Odisha Government and Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik for Season 2 has been acknowledged, with plans to further elevate the event's success.

Season 2 aims to nurture new talents, focusing on younger players in the field, promising intensified rivalries, thrilling actions, increased speed, and innovative approaches that redefine the sports viewing experience. Tenzing Niyogi, CEO and League Commissioner of Ultimate Kho Kho, emphasized the league's commitment to selecting partners who share their long-term vision.

The inaugural edition of UKK became India’s third-largest non-cricket league in terms of TV audience reach, attracting 164 million viewers, with matches held over three weeks. Season 1's success was evident with 60 million interactions and 225 million video views across various platforms, setting new benchmarks for non-cricket leagues in India. Notably, UKK Season 1 introduced advanced technology like the spider cam, enhancing the indoor sports experience in India.
