Langar Baba, who donated property worth crores of rupees to feed the people, was living his life in Sector 23. Jagdish Ahuja, who had seen 85 spring of age, was affectionately called 'Langar Baba'. In Patiala, he started his living by selling jaggery and fruits. He moved to Chandigarh in 1956 at the age of about 21. At that time, Chandigarh was being made the first planned city in the country. After coming here, they rented a fruit cart and started selling bananas.

Reached Chandigarh with 4 rupees 15 paise: Langar Baba had 4 rupees and 15 paise in his hand when he arrived in Chandigarh. There were times when I had to sleep hungry during partition: Langar Baba, displaced as a child from his motherland Peshawar in 1947, moved to Mansa city in Punjab. He was about 12 years old at the time. From such a young age, a struggle had begun in his life. His family had passed away in the midst of displacement.
