NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a bold goal for India, declaring that the country will rise to become the third-largest economy in the world during his third term in office. Speaking at the inaugural session of the "Journey Towards Viksit Bharat: A Post Union Budget 2024-25 Conference" held at Vigyan Bhawan, Modi expressed his optimism about India's future economic position.
"India is currently the fifth-largest economy globally, but we are on the verge of moving up to the third spot," said Modi. He reaffirmed his commitment to this vision during the post-Budget 2024 event hosted by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on July 30.
The Prime Minister highlighted several measures from the recent budget aimed at boosting the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector, which plays a crucial role in job creation across the country.
Modi emphasized India's unique position as a nation experiencing both high growth and low inflation. He also mentioned the government's push to further develop the semiconductor and technology sectors. "India has transitioned from being a major importer of mobile phones to becoming one of the leading manufacturers of these devices," he noted.
In addition to economic growth, Modi discussed the country's progress in energy transition and conservation. He expressed confidence that India will emerge as a global leader in various emerging industries, underscoring that the aspirations of Indian citizens are a top priority for his administration.
