HYDERABAD:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Telangana on July 12 to lay the foundation stone for Railway Coach Periodic Overhauling facility at Kazipet.

In a show of strength, the state BJP unit is organizing a public meeting in Warangal on the same day. The final schedule for the Prime Minister's visit is likely to be announced soon.

State BJP leaders are optimistic that the Prime Minister's presence will invigorate the party in preparation for the upcoming Assembly elections later this year. This visit was initially planned as part of the Maha Jan Sampark Abhiyan, a campaign marking nine years of the Modi government. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, it was postponed.

By inaugurating the Railway Coach Periodic Overhauling facility in Kazipet, the Prime Minister aims to counter the allegations made by the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party that the BJP-led government at the Centre has neglected Telangana.

The establishment of the coach factory in Telangana was promised in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, but it has remained unfulfilled. The BRS government, which had already identified suitable land for the factory, has been criticizing the Modi government for not fulfilling its commitment.

Last year, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the establishment of the Periodic Overhauling facility in Kazipet.

During his previous visit to Telangana in April, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated various projects worth over Rs. 11,300 crore, focusing on railways, road connectivity, and health infrastructure development.
