The Kumaraswamy Layout police had to shoot a 28-year-old notorious criminal in his legs to manage to arrest him in connection with the murder of an ATM kiosk’s security guard, in KS Layout police station limits, in the wee hours of Saturday. With his arrest, police have solved three murder cases and one case of arson.

Psycho Raja also known as Rajendra alias Benki Raja was shot around 4 am on Saturday by police at Narayan Nagar, in Konanakunte Police Station limits. According to the police, Rajendra, who has over nine criminal cases, including three of murder, was a drug addict. He found Lingappa asleep outside the ATM kiosk and tried to rob him. The guard woke up, following which Rajendra bludgeoned him with a boulder and escaped with ₹150.

“On Saturday, the police received information that he was hiding near Konanakunte. When they went to arrest him, he allegedly started pelting the team with stones. Our officers warned him and fired in the air once, but he did not surrender and continued to attack. Police officers fired at him in self-defense. His thigh and ankle was injured and he was taken to Sairam Hospital for treatment," said the DCP.
