Chandigarh: Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij has given strict instructions to the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department that the policemen with belly should be attached to the police line. Persistent weight gain with a belly makes it a problem to catch criminals. Home Minister Anil Vij on Thursday (May 18) ordered transfer of overweight policemen to police lines till they are fit again.

Anil Vij issued a written instruction to the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department that the weight of many police personnel in the department has increased and they should be transferred to the police line. Anil Vij said that fitness of policemen is necessary to curb crime. Keeping this in mind, instructions have been given. According to an official statement, Vij issued instructions to the ACS (Home) that police personnel who have gained and continue to gain weight should be transferred to the police lines so that they can exercise and become fit there.

He further said that, 'It has been observed that the weight of many police personnel in the police department has increased and with time their weight is increasing even more.' Vij wrote that, 'To keep the police officers/employees fit, I want that all police officers/employees who are overweight should be shifted to the police line and get them to exercise till they are fit for duty. '

The Home Minister said that policemen with a belly cannot run after a criminal. Apart from this, the image of the police is also tarnished and the common people also make fun of it, so all the personnel and officers of the police force should be physically fit and vigorous. Let us tell you that the sanctioned strength of police personnel in Haryana is 75,000.
