Punjab's major political parties, except the BJP, passed a resolution on Wednesday supporting CM Captain Amarinder Singh on the issue of anti-farmer ordinances which is passed by the central government. The Center should withdraw it in the public interest.

BJP opposed this proposal in the all-party meeting, the Shiromani Akali Dal first expressed its apprehension on this, but later on standing with other parties on this proposal, a partial agreement on this has been done. The guaranteed purchase being made at the minimum support price and APMC of the state will not be tampered with at any cost. SAD also supported the decision to meet the Prime Minister and the Union Agriculture Minister as a delegation on this issue.

A delegation of all political parties under the leadership of the Chief Minister will meet the PM and the Union Agriculture Minister to inform about the apprehensions arising out of this anti-farmer law and appeal that it be withdrawn in the public interest. It was said that agriculture and mandating are state subjects under the Seventh Schedule and the current ordinance is against the spirit of the cooperative federal structure as recorded in the constitution.

An appeal will be made to the Central Government that these ordinances should be reviewed and withdrawn immediately. However, SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal said that his party would seek legal opinion before passing the ordinances against the spirit of the cooperative federal structure. The video conference meeting called by the Chief Minister lasted for five hours.
