Amritsar: The effigy of Lord Shri Ram was burnt in Manawala, the town of Amritsar on Dussehra. The video of this incident is going viral on social media. Lawyer Ashok Sarin has given a complaint regarding this viral video. Ashok Sarin says that this video came on his mobile on 27 October. According to him, some anti-social elements in this video were burning the effigies of Lord Sri Rama and using abusive language.

In the viral video, some people are seen burning effigies of Lord Rama instead of Ravana. Before burning the effigy, this young man can also be seen saying that Ravana was quite knowledgeable and wise and whatever Rama was, he was less wise than Ravana, so he is burning the effigy of Shri Rama. He says that we are burning the effigy of Rama, a native, tribal, because Ravana was a wise man and had knowledge of the four Vedas.

According to the information, in this regard, the police registered a case against 14 people there and four people have been arrested in this regard. A case under Section 295A, 298, 149 and IT Act 66 of the IPC was registered in the police station on 27 October, and a place was arrested for catching the accused. The whole incident has come to light from Manavala village of Lopoke police station in Amritsar district.
