Patna: Shortly after Nitish Kumar resigned as Bihar's Chief Minister on Sunday, Rohini Acharya, daughter of former Chief Minister and RJD chief Lalu Yadav, took a swipe at Kumar, stating that the 'garbage is now back into the bin'. In a rough translation of her post in Hindi, Rohini expressed, "Garbage goes back into the dustbin. Garbage - Happy stinking garbage to the group!" Earlier in the day, before Kumar's resignation, Rohini had posted on X, saying, "As long as we have breath, our fight against communal forces continues..."
Nitish Kumar is expected to take oath at 5 pm today and will now seek to form a new government with the support of the BJP. Sources suggest that Kumar was upset with the INDIA bloc due to failed seat-sharing talks. Following his resignation, Nitish stated, "Will leave the earlier alliance and form a new alliance." Hours after Rohini's earlier tweet, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi on X wrote, "What Rohini Acharya tweeted was probably the sentiment of the entire nation, including BJP supporters. Just saying."
"Sources citing that as a cause for friction are clutching at straws to explain the umpteenth switch," she added. In recent days, Kumar had been leaning towards a political volte-face with the BJP. The JD(U)'s political adviser and spokesperson, KC Tyagi, informed reporters in Delhi that the grand alliance government in Bihar is on the verge of collapse. He accused a section of the Congress leadership of repeatedly "insulting" Kumar.
While some RJD leaders are inclined to stake claim to form the new government, hoping to garner the support of eight MLAs required to surpass the majority mark, others, including Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, seem unimpressed with the idea. This is because the JD(U) and the BJP together have more than 122 members in the 243-strong assembly.
