New Delhi: Sanju Samson, who made his IPL debut as captain in the fourth match of IPL 2021, played blistering innings. Sanju Samson played a blistering 119-run knock against Punjab Kings (PBKS) played at the Wankhede Stadium. He has also achieved a big record by scoring a century in his first match as a captain. In fact, Sanju Samson became the first player in IPL history to make a century while debuting as a captain.

Let me tell you, Sanju Samson hit 12 fours and 7 sixes during his 119-run innings. With this,  the third century of his IPL career. Prior to this, he has scored a century against Pune in 2017 and Hyderabad in 2019. Presently, in the history of IPL, when talking about scoring a century by Indian players, Sanju Samson is now behind only Virat Kohli. Virat has scored five centuries in the IPL.

But, even after playing such brilliant innings, the match between Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals on Monday, Sanju's century was destroyed because Punjab defeated the Royals team by 4 runs in a thrilling match. Batting earlier, Punjab Kings scored a 221-run stand for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs thanks to KL Rahul's 91-run innings and Deepak Hooda's 64, and Chris Gayle's 40 runs. In response to which Rajasthan could score only 217 runs and lost the match by 4 runs.
