Vijayawada: It is worth noting that recently the stamp paper and fake challan scam was exposed in the state and investigation is being done to nab the culprits. Based on the complaints received, the Mandapally Police registered a case and arrested Medepally Ram Dheeraj, a ticket vendor and his father and document writer Medepally Balaji, in connection with the fake challan scam at the Mandavali sub-registrar office on Thursday. Krishna District Police along with the officials of Stamp and Registration Department conducted the investigation and collected evidence on the involvement of Medepally Ram and Medepally Balaji in the scam. The Mandawali police arrested both of them and produced them in the local court.
The main accused collected money from the buyers of the property and did not deposit it in the banks. He deposited only Rs 15,92,158 in banks instead of Rs 2,68,04,943 for 568 property registrations at Mandawali sub-registrar office. They stole the payment of Rs 2,52,12,785. Talking to the media, the SP said that the main accused Ram Dheeraj had obtained a license to sell stamp paper in 2013. And the accused used to cheat the property buyers and did not deposit their money in the bank.
SP Kaushal said that the accused used Adobe Photoshop software to generate fake invoices, which were used for registration of properties. The accused used to give fake copies of challans to the property buyers. Thus the accused suffered a loss of Rs 2,52,12,785 on property registration. Along with this, the accused Dheeraj also cheated the government by making fake challans to buy stamp papers. The SP congratulated Gudivada DSP N Satyanandam and Divisional Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors of Mandavalli and Kaukaluru police stations for the arrest of the accused.
