Amritsar: Discord in Punjab Congress is not taking its name to stop. Now former Punjab Congress President Sunil Jakhar has made a big disclosure. He said that after the removal of Captain Amarinder Singh in September 2021, the Congress had got the vote done. In which 42 out of 79 MLAs were in his favor. Charanjit Channi was named by only 2 MLAs. Even after this he became the Chief Minister. Sunil Jakhar said this for the first time during the campaign of Congress candidate.

Jakhar said that after him, 16 MLAs supported Sukhjinder Randhawa, 12 MLAs supported Captain's wife Maharani Preneet Kaur in voting. There were only 6 MLAs in favor of Navjot Sidhu. Jakhar's statement before declaring the Congress chief ministerial candidate in Punjab has stirred the Congress. Jakhar said that the Congress high command had also offered him the post of deputy CM after he could not become the chief minister. However, Jakhar also thanked the Congress MLAs and the high command. He said that Jakhar's name came up when he was not even an MLA.

Sunil Jakhar was set to become the Chief Minister after the removal of Captain Amarinder Singh. The Congress top leadership had called him back from Bangalore. However, at the last minute, Congress leader Ambika Soni said that Punjab is a Sikh state and the CM should be a Sikh face. Sunil Jakhar is a Hindu, so Congress changed the decision in no time.
