Tripura: Shops Torched, Houses Damaged Following Youth's Death in Group Clash.

Week after Agarthala Violence, ensions erupted in Tripura's Dhalai district after the death of 19-year-old tribal youth Parmeshwar Reang, who was injured in a clash between two groups. Following his death, several shops and houses were set on fire, prompting authorities to impose prohibitory orders and arrest four individuals. Additional police forces have been deployed, and Internet services in the area have been suspended to prevent further violence.

Parmeshwar Reang, a college student, was injured during a clash at the Gandatwisa market, where he had gone with friends to attend a fair organized for the Rath Yatra festival on July 7. After being initially treated locally, he was transferred to GBP Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Friday.

In response to the unrest, a peace meeting was organized by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Gandatwisa to calm the situation. Prominent leader Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma of the Tipra Motha party condemned the incident, calling for justice and urging restraint.

The authorities have increased police presence in the village to maintain order, and the arrests were made in connection with Reang's death. The suspension of Internet services aims to curb the spread of misinformation and further violence. The incident has highlighted the need for effective measures to address and resolve communal tensions in the region.
