Amravati: In a shocking incident, a hypocrite has been arrested for allegedly raping a married woman in Kuxa under Dariyapur tehsil, about 200 km from Amravati in Maharashtra. After the arrest, the hypocrite Baba was presented before the court, where he was sent to 3-day police custody.

Police said the 23-year-old victim had gone to the tantrik along with her husband. Even after 4 years of marriage, they had no children. Baba promised her that if she worships on the banks of the river she will get a child. The couple, residents of Borgaon Manju in Amravati district, came to know about the tantrik from their relatives. He contacted them on mobile phone. The tantric asked them to come to Kuxa village to perform puja and other rituals. "The puja ritual will cost around Rs 70,000. The couple accepted all the conditions of Baba and paid him accordingly. The tantrik, identified as Santosh Bawne, sent the woman's husband out to buy some goods. When her husband was away, Bawne got an opportunity and raped the woman."

When her husband returned, the victim narrated her ordeal, following which the couple lodged a complaint with the local police. SDPO Gurunath Naidu said Bawne has been arrested and further investigation is underway. "We have arrested Bawne under sections 376 and the Indian Penal Code, including Maharashtra for human sacrifice and other inhuman, evil and aghori practices and prevention and eradication of black magic act, 2013," Naidu said. On Friday, Bawne was produced before a local court, which remanded him in three-day police custody.
