The first match of the ICC T20 World Cup is today, who will prevail over whom

The Indian cricket team is going to start its campaign in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 from today (5 June). This match is going to be played at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. The telecast of the match will start from 8 o'clock. All eyes will be on how the Indian team's playing 11 is going to be in this match. Because Team India has a pattern regarding the playing 11, it does not make any major changes in big tournaments from its winning combination.

In the 2023 T20 World Cup also, the Indian team gave opportunity to Mohammad Shami after Shardul Thakur was in poor form and Suryakumar Yadav after Hardik Pandya was injured. In such a situation, whatever playing 11 Rohit Sharma will field in the first match in New York, it can be assumed that the same team is going to play in the entire tournament. The biggest question will be who will open and who will be the wicketkeeper. As a wicketkeeper, Rishabh Pant is sure to get preference over Sanju Samson.

This is believed to be the last World Cup for 37-year-old Rohit, it is almost certain that he will not play till the next T20 World Cup to be held in India and the 50-over World Cup to be held in South Africa in 2027.

India has the advantage of having better spinners than Ireland, although apart from Bumrah, the fast bowling attack looks a bit weak. Because Mohammad Siraj and Arshdeep Singh do not have the skills like Bumrah, because the performance of both of them in IPL has not been like that. Overall, the edge of bowling is going to be on Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah.

Will Yashasvi sit out?: Reports say that Yashasvi Jaiswal will have to stay out for captain Rohit and Kohli. Rishabh Pant batted at number three in the practice match and Hardik Pandya also bowled well. Pandya bowled well to Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit in the practice session. If he can bowl even three overs, Shivam Dubey and an additional spinner can be included in the Indian team.

Not only this, if Yashasvi opens, then a left and right hand combination will be formed with Rohit Sharma. But Yashasvi Jaiswal is competing with Shivam Dubey. With his coming in the middle order, he will be seen facing the spinners.

Strength of Ireland: Ireland's team has good T20 cricketers like Paul Stirling, Josh Little, Harry Tector, Andy Balbirnie. It will be interesting to see how the Indian team is going to play Ireland's left-arm spinner George Dockrell on the slow and average wicket of Nassau County Ground. Ireland cannot be underestimated as weak, it defeated Pakistan on its soil before the World Cup. Little also has the experience of playing IPL for Gujarat Titans.

India's probable playing 11: Rohit Sharma (captain), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dubey, Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj

Ireland's probable playing 11: Andrew Balbirnie, Paul Stirling (captain), Lorcan Tucker (wicketkeeper), Harry Tector, Curtis Campher, George Dockrell, Gareth Delany, Mark Adair, Barry McCarthy, Craig Young, Ben White

India's record against Ireland: India has won all 7 T20 matches completed between the two teams. India also won the three ODIs. Ireland will have to be careful of Virat Kohli. Kohli's average in the T20 World Cup is 81.5, he has scored 50 plus in 14 of his 25 innings. Bumrah has taken 6 wickets in 12 overs against Ireland at an average of 9.66 and an economy rate of 4.83.
