Indore: In a shocking incident, a 21-year-old girl was brutally beaten by her family members when she refused to marry a boy of their choice. The incident took place in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh on 25th June. The video of the beating of the woman has gone viral on social media.

According to a report by the Times of India, the woman's family wanted to marry a girl from her community after living with a Dalit man. When the girl was brought back home after having sex with a Dalit youth, four of her family members beat her badly. The incident came after the video of the beating went viral. In the video, the woman can be seen lying on the ground and the accused is seen beating her with a stick. Meanwhile, police have registered a case in this regard. Dhar SP Aditya Pratap Singh said, "We have started an investigation against the accused and further investigation is on. "

Earlier in June, a panchayat in Madhubani district of Bihar had ordered that the hairs of two girls be cut as they opposed molestation by two youths in the village. The girls were also beaten up by the villagers in Jhanjharpur. The cousins were earlier dubbed characterless by the panchayat before they were beaten up. The brother of the girls was also beaten up for opposing the panchayat order.
