New Delhi: Corona cases are increasing rapidly in India every day and now the head of the Covid Taskforce, NK Arora himself has told that the third wave of infection is not going to come in the country, but it has arrived. Arora, head of the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization, also told that cases with the new Omicron variant of corona in India are coming up in big cities.

Talking to the news channel, Dr NK Arora said that in big cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata, 75 per cent of the cases of the fast-spreading Omicron variant are being registered. Let us tell you that the first case of this variant was found in South Africa in November. Dr NK Arora said that 'According to all the variants genome sequenced, the first case of Omicron was found in our country in the first week of December. So, last week 12 per cent of the nationally identified variants were from Omicron and now it is 28 per cent. Its infection is spreading rapidly in the country. It is also important that in big cities like Mumbai, Kolkata and especially Delhi, 75 per cent of Omicron cases have been reported.'

Let us inform you that so far more than 1700 cases of Omicron have been registered in India, out of which 510 cases are mostly in Maharashtra. At the same time, an increase of more than 20 per cent has been registered in the new cases of corona in the country. Doctor NK Arora told that the third wave has arrived. He said that 'There is clearly a third wave going on in India and this entire wave has come due to the new variant of Corona, Omicron.' Dr Arora said that the increase in corona cases in the last four to five days testifies to this.
