GORAKHPUR: Police in the Gorakhpur district reported on Wednesday that three family members had committed suicide by hanging themselves in the Ghosipurwa locality,  under the Shahpur police station.

The man's two daughters' remains have also been sent for a post-mortem.

Evidence has been collected from the scene by the forensic team and the police, whereby investigators found that the daughters' school tuition had not been paid for the previous five months during their initial investigation.
The school administration claimed that both girls were good students and that no pressure to pay fees had ever been applied because of their successful academic records.

The 45-year-old Jitendra Srivastava shared a home with his two daughters, Manya, 16, a class 9 student, and Manvi, 14, a class 7 student. Both of the girls attended a private, English-language school.

Srivastava's wife Simmi died of cancer two years ago, and he had lost one leg in a train accident in 1999. Srivastava had started tailoring in the house to make a living after the death of his wife. He had been in financial difficulty for the last two years.

Om Prakash, the father of Jitendra Srivastava, who works as a security for a private company, was on duty that evening, said Gaurav Grover, SSP, Gorakhpur. The next morning, when he arrived home, he found all the three hanging, and informed the police.
