Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, greeted TMC workers on their party's founding day on Saturday and pledged to enhance the country's federal structure.

It was on January 1, 1998, that  Banerjee left the Congress and founded the TMC.

"On TMC FoundationDay, I send my warmest greetings to all of our workers, fans, and Maa-Mati-Manush family members." "Our journey began on January 1st, 1998, and we have been dedicated to helping people and safeguarding their wellbeing ever since," she wrote on Twitter.

Banerjee, West Bengal's stormy petrel, led her TMC to a resounding victory in the 2021 assembly elections, becoming the state's third consecutive chief minister. "As we begin a new year, let us pledge to remain united in our battle against all forms of injustice." Let us be kind and respectful to one another. Let us work together to strengthen this country's federal system. "I appreciate you all for your blessings," she wrote on Twitter.

The TMC emerged from the Congress womb in 1998 and, after two failed attempts in 2001 and 2006, defeated the formidable Left Front administration in 2011, riding the crest of widespread public indignation against communists.
