New Delhi: For the past several days, there has been a stampede in the Samajwadi Party. With the party's weak position in the state assembly, the leaders are turning to the BJP to secure its place. It started with Neeraj Shekhar and is still operational. Two more names are mentioned in the list. The name of Sukhram Singh Yadav and Vishwabhar Prasad Nishad is the most talked about. The BJP is selectively bringing the SP leaders under its social engineering formula.

The BJP's focus is on the 12-seat assembly by-elections and 2022 elections, for which the party is setting up the electoral chessboard based on ethnic equations. Surendra Nagar, who left the SP, is counted among the top leaders of the Gujjars. Sanjay Seth, the SP's treasurer, also has a good foothold in the Corporate sandworlds as well as the Punjabi and Khatri lobby. The term of the two leaders was still till 2022. In the same order, Nishad and Yadav also rank among the fraternity's embattled people.

The BJP is in a strong position in 9 out of 10 seats vacated from UP in 2020. The party is also in a position to win 11 out of the 12 seats to be vacated in 2022. The UP has 31 Rajya Sabha members, including 14 from the SP. Which has now come down to 10. If two more MPs go, the party will be reduced to eight MPs.

By 2022, the party will have a long waiting list of Upper House MPs. They include Ram Gopal Yadav, Beni Prasad Verma, Tajin Fatima and Rewati Raman Singh. Besides, there are dimple Yadav, Dharmendra Yadav and Akshay Yadav, wife from the Yadav family. The BJP is fully active in the Rajya Sabha to improve its strength.
