Imphal: The absconding United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) self-styled president Lunkhosan Haokip was arrested. An official of the premier investigating agency said that he was arrested on Thursday. The case pertains to the theft of arms and ammunition from the armory of Manipur Rifles.

Haokip, along with his co-conspirators and accusers, was involved in the theft and illegal sale of government firearms to various terrorist organizations including the Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) and the UKLF. NIA officer said. Earlier, nine nine mm pistols were recovered during a search operation in his premises, the official said. He was produced before a special NIA court in Imphal, which remanded him to NIA custody till September 21, the official said. The official said that further investigation in the matter is on.
 
Similarly, security forces on Wednesday arrested an active cadre of the banned militant outfit Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) from Tarung village in Manipur's Imphal West district. Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police nabbed the terrorist from Tarung village on Wednesday, the release said in a press release issued by the Office of the Inspector General, Assam Rifles (South), the release said. It is learned that the arrested militant has been handed over to Lamphel Police Station in the same district for further investigation and legal action.
