Lucknow: The imam of a mosque in the Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh has accused his wife of pressurising him to shave his beard. According to the imam, his wife asks him to live like modern youths. She describes herself as a model. She eats pan masala. Police are now investigating the imam's complaint. The imam's video is also going viral on social media.
According to media reports, the case is from the Akrabad police station area of Aligarh. The imam's name is Jalaluddin. According to Jalaluddin, he was married to Veena of village Sattarpur 1 year ago. She has been physically and mentally harassing him since marriage. The wife, calling herself a model, pressures the imam to be like modern youths. According to the Imam, 'When I try to convince her of religion, she threatens me. According to Imam Jalaluddin, the wife also asks him to stay away from his parents. She doesn't even do any household chores. The imam said the wife eats pan masala and abuses him for refusing.
Jalaluddin says the wife took the jewellery and cash on October 17, 2021, and went to her house. The wife and her family misbehaved when he went to pick her up. He has also been charged with triple talaq and false dowry cases in Thana Charra. The imam says his entire family is in shock because of this. Aligarh police have taken cognizance of the imam's complaint. Superintendent of Police City Kuldeep Gunawat has investigated the case and asked for action. Police station Akrabad SHO have been instructed to investigate and take necessary action.
